Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress, dancer and singer. Early Broadway parts include Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. in You Can't Take It With You, she won the Tony Award as Best Featured actress in the Play. Annaleigh Ashford, a Tony Award-winning actor and director, has spent the majority of her career working with well-known directors and actors in film and on television. Ashford is scheduled to be starring opposite Kumail Nanjiani as part of the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford currently works in Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust opposite Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch Bachrach. The film will be aired on Disney DTC as an Hulu Original. Ashford is scheduled to return to Broadway in March 2023, with the role of Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production will be held at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), exactly the same group that brought us Hamilton directed the production. Ashford portrayed Paula Jones, the main character in Ryan Murphy's new FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the scandal that brought Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other principal characters in the first impeachment trial in the United States in more than a century. She was the star of two seasons of CBS Comedy B Positive. It was co-produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda Lavin as well as Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her performance as Essie in You Can't Take It with You won her the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Some other Broadway credits for Ashford include Sunday in the Park, with George Wicked legally Blonde, and the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance she received an Tony Award nomination. Ashford was born and raised in Denver and currently splits the time in Los Angeles, and New York.
